diptok update v2.1 – Conversations That Never Stop
Beyond real-time, now connected through letters

Q. What’s new in the diptok v2.1 update?
The v2.1 update introduces an entirely new way of connecting. Even when the other person is offline, you can now leave a letter for a random user. When they come online, the letter is delivered — they can read it or reply whenever they’re ready.
For a long time, diptok focused on real-time communication. It was a place where, especially at night, people could immediately match with someone and talk. But our daily rhythms have become more fragmented. With different schedules and different time zones, it’s becoming harder for two people to be online at the same moment.
This is the background that shaped v2.1. It expands the direction introduced in the previous update (v2), where we attempted to remove the “wall of time” in conversations.

v2.1 goes further — enabling conversations to continue even when two people are not online together. In diptok, conversations now flow beyond the boundaries of time.

Q. Can I send a letter to someone I’ve never met before?
Yes — and this is the biggest change in v2.1.
Previously, you could only talk to someone you matched with in real time. Now you can send a letter to someone you’ve never met before. Among all the feedback we received, one comment stood out:
If no one is online when I log in, there’s nothing to do.
This single sentence started the evolution toward v2.1.
We wanted to solve that emptiness — the moment when you want to talk but no one’s there. So we introduced Asynchronous Matching, allowing your letter to reach someone even if they’re offline. Your words travel into their world at their own pace.

Q. How does the letter inbox work?
When you have something to say but no one to talk to right away, that’s okay — you can now leave your thoughts in a letter.
- Sent letters: shown in the sidebar
- Received letters: shown at the top under the ✉️ icon
And here’s the most important part: Once you reply to a letter, a private real-time chat room opens automatically. A letter transforms into a conversation — and two strangers' worlds connect.

Q. How long are letters stored?
All letters are stored for 24 hours. After that, they disappear naturally, keeping your inbox light and clean. diptok values “light but warm connections.” We want people to use this space freely — to write, leave, forget, return. This place isn’t meant for permanent archives, but for short emotional moments that still matter.
Q. What’s coming next?
This update is the first step toward more persistent conversations. In the next version, notifications will be added to make these connections even smoother. Even within the light nature of random chat, diptok aims to create conversations that carry sincerity.
Q. What does this update mean for users?
If v2.0 was “the update that erased the wall of time,”
then v2.1 is “the update that leaves an emotional trace.”
Users can now go beyond one-time conversations and experience relationships that continue like letters. Sending a letter to a stranger takes courage. You never know when — or if — they’ll read it. Yet sending it anyway is an act of honesty. It becomes an emotional record, not just a message. We believe these small acts of honesty will build a warmer online space — one conversation at a time.
Conclusion
Behind familiar terms like random chat, anonymous talk, and real-time messaging, diptok now brings a new phrase:
“Relationships that continue like letters.”
We always ask ourselves:
How long can a connection between two people truly last?
v2.1 is one step toward exploring that answer.
